Studio studio studio

So I'm gearing up to spend a shit load of time in the upcoming months in the recording studio with amity, we just started demo's last week and I was in there until late last night doing the first lot of vocals for one of our new songs R.I.P. Steggy (ask ahren or lulu who steggy is...) We've got Prom Queen staying at our house at the moment as well, it's a blast, they're all super nice guys and jona even did our dishes, what a lovely man! As well as all this NCB have decided to come together some time in the next couple of months and are putting together an exhibition up the sunshine coast, so I've started painting for that as well...DBD is running late, no surprises there, yimmy might actually be nearing completion of our website, BIG SURPRISE THERE! Hahaha, just kidding yimmy...Enough chit chat, here are the photos...

SUPERBOWL SUNDAY

Went for a little bit of an explore yesterday.


Came across some old railroad tracks. These must not have been used for years.


Tens of thousands of people roll past this spot everyday, none of them would even know that it exists.






Spots like these are my favourite places to explore and paint - Little nooks and crannies that are totally forgotten about by the rest of the world.

Violence In The Air

I'm sick as a fucking dog right now. Its great!

The crazy weekend that I had MAY just possibly have something to do with it:

This all happened on saturday night.


First up, I went to Q.U.T to watch The Amity Affliction's first Brisbane show since they split and re-formed about 4 months ago. Jim Beam cans were only 5 bucks so I was back to my old tricks, two at a time.

There sure was some drunkeness happening with several friends being nearly booted but then made to drink water.

Amity were just one song in to thier set when a fight broke out at the back of the crowd. The band promised to stop playing if people didnt stop fighting.


Well near the end of the set it happened again. This dude was trying to avoid being booted by holding onto the barricade. This caused some "friction" between security and his mates in the crowd. This photo was taken moments after Amity stopped mid-song and Ahren frog-jumped of the stage and cracked the security guy in the head. All's fair in love and war.

After that we jumped in a cab and headed for the Valley to see Cage perform at the Zoo. As we arrived outside the venue we could hear that The Optimen were already on stage, we also heard K-West announce to the crowd that he "just vomited bile".
The Optimen held it down with guest appearances from Robby Balboa and Ramen.

After Cage (and Mr Lif) the night just proceeded to get more drunken. We bounced and headed to Club 299.


Faces covered to protect the guilty - After the cops pinned this guy down on the ground so he was helpless I watched one of them give him a quick punch in the guts. I watched helplessly as Mr Balboa was arrested for smashing a not-so-innocent bystander's (camera) phone.

299 was off the hook. Besides the usual bourbon I was also treated to shots of; tequilla, satruce, sambucca, Jager bombs and swigs of vodka, beer and scotch... And thats just what I can remember. No wonder I felt like shit the next day.

Also in the tradition of the evenings fisticuffs, I watched our mate Shane get ejected from the club and knee'd in the face by one of the bouncers. Ah the joys of life on the piss.

For now Im taking lots of yellow pills to try cure my illness. Maybe no drinking this weekend.

Its hard keeping up to date these days. I really haven't been 'all there' since sydney. Must have been seeing that kid die or being held up by junkies, oh and loosing my camera which had the ultimate photo of myself and Josh Davis. Good news though, I get a new camera cause of sweet insurance, small consulation, but a consulation none the less.

Picking it up monday. As I said good news. Its amazing how, when you have a camera you don't use it all that much, then when you don't have one you feel like your missing a leg. My trusty Holga has kept me sane though, first time using 120mm film, but im looking forward to seeing how things come out. We have a huge dark room at uni and I'm going to see if I can play around in there on my lunch breaks.

On TKOSM business, the new website is in production, I hate it, but it needs to be done. Im in the office all week this week working on Death Before Dishonour 4, its looks like its going to shape up to be a really good issue. Things are being refined and a definite style is emerging. Although being stuck in a room with Joel all day may take its toll, he 'thinks' he's going to be art directing me... hahah ghosts and shit.

So in the next week I need to do, DBD4, TKOSM site, Exit designs, Art Theory paper, 4 shifts at work, and 3 full days of uni. Sweet taste of slumber how I'll miss you.

Oh the title of this post? I realised last night that when I sit at the computer or even stad at work, I basically stand on the side of my right foot twisted 90 degrees with my left foot, 85 kilos even distributed to ta rolled ankle.. Chiropacter?

BLOCK DRAINS

Went and did some quick pieces this afternoon. Was really really fun.

I got to try some of the brand spanking new Ironlak formula (Atmosphere, Smurf and Roarke) and I gotta say its fucking dope!! I've always hated smurf as a colour and now I love it cause it comes out of the can so damn nice. The black was a dream too. Atmophere was solid as always. I don't think this stuff is in stores yet but peep it when ya can cause its fresh! I cant wait to try some of the other colours. The new shit comes in a gloss can.


Where we painted was a spot that Jeeps used to get down in, hense the mini Jeeps piece on the right. RIP homie. We got to the spot waaay too late so we started running out of daylight - I wish I had another 10 minutes to fix my shines and do some cut backs. Oh well always next time.

Also got our hands on the brand new Norma Jean album the other day - It's fucking good! I didnt even know they had a new album coming out - I cant wait to see the artwork for it.

New Lodown and Monster Children magazines are on the reading pile at the moment. Loving them.

FUCKIN PARTY WOOOOOOOO

So last weekend was pretty drunken!

Friday night was the 4ZZZ Hip Hop fundraiser thing in the Valley.

At the Hip Hop gig. Drunken "cheers"... Always ends in disaster.


I ducked off to visit the Amity boys who were holding down the fort at 299.


On the way back to the hip hop venue The Angry Smurf started to get smashy.


"Oh no" Angry Smurf is spotted by a concerned citizen... Happy Smurf saves the day by blocking the citizen.


A bit of quick speech therapy and all is good. Everyone is friends again.


Back at the hip hop jam I ran into Dragonfly.


The last set before the venue kicked everyone out was by Urthboy and Ozi Battla from the Herd... Very dope! The Jeeps piece is by Blends.


Back at 299 to get more drunk and smashy.

Saturday we went and did a piece.


Nina and Lulu had been shopping and purchased some "Jew's Ear Fungus Jelly"... What the fuck? I think this what Mel Gibson eats for breakfast... They said it tasted like maple syrup.

After painting I headed to join in with the rest of the crew who were playing Scrabble as a drinking game. Both bottles above were gone quite quickly.


I had never ever played Scrabble before so I was quite proud of my first word on the board.

We headed to the Valley, next stop 299... We ran into Vicious Visa on the way. He was wearing my gun necklace that I got in Hollywood.. At this point I remembered that I gave it to him the night before... Bourbon is good like that.
