We just got back from a few days camping on Fraser Island. None of us could afford the trip but we did it anyway. Ironlak deserves the props for scraping together enough cash when things are tough for them.
We got started 3am Sunday morning which was abit hectic but we had to do the 3 hour drive to Harvey Bay to pick up our Troopy. We arrived late but things were well in motion for our "Hip-Hop Holiday".

We had to make sure we had our essentials.

Big Linz reverses the troopy onto the barge.

Shortly after our arrival on the island we stop for a few posse shots.

Thats not a rope dickhead.

This is a smooth section of the "road" over there. This place is amazing. Three days of this is pretty special.

Day 2, Cruzing at 100k/hr on the beach. I could stab this face.

A shipwreck on the beach. This is slowly sinking into the sand.

We stopped to walk down this shallow creek.

This is the view out the back window as we are leaving Indian Head. We were supposed to see Tiger sharks from the top of this hill but the shitty weather meant that we didnt get to see them.

We set up camp on the beach. It started raining so we left our esky out overnight. We woke up at about 4am to discover that dingo's with boltcutters had broken into our esky and stolen all our meat. Breakfast was a non-event. Luckily they didnt touch our alchohol so I had bourbon for breakfast. The above shot is of a dingo who was chillin at our camp at about 6am. I took the shot from inside the tent just as he was bailing. This is day three.

The roads were pretty rough. Linz got pretty confident behind the wheel which allowed for some pretty scary driving. Sitting in the back of the troopy provided some amusing moments while we were being thrown around like rag-dolls. Seatbelts were a must! Im sure that we ended up with a reputation on the island as maniacs. The faster speeds allowed us to see more of the island which was pretty cool.

Posse shot from a lookout. This was just a big lot of sand. Pretty cool.

The weather finally cleared up for our arrival back at Lake McKenzie for our final swim. There were way more backpackers there this time which made things more fun. Topless girls on the beach are always a bonus. I got really sunburned during this swim. Red raw.

Here is a dingo about to mess with some unsuspecting tourists in the carpark of Lake McKenzie. He looked pretty hungry. poor guy. I think he wanted a piece of that girls hot dog. She didnt look too willing to share. I can now see why dingo's are pretty keen on peoples babies.
Fraser island is amazing. Check it out some time if you get the chance. I know I will be heading back as soon as I can.
